Colorado city 14 – JV Broncos 8 The JV Broncos traveled to Colorado City to play the JV Wolves. The Wolves started the game on offense and took up almost all of the first quarter moving the ball toward the Bronco goal line. Toward the end of the first quarter, the Broncos forced them to punt. The Broncos started their own march to the end zone. The first big gain was a pitch from Ethan Morriss to Caleb Gonzales who gained 12 yards on the sweep to the left. A few plays later, Morriss rolled to his left, faked out a defender, and gained about 12 yards giving the Broncos a first and goal at the eight. On fourth and goal, Morriss rolled to his right and threw an interception. The Wolf intercepted the ball in the end zone and tried to run it out. He was tackled at the half yard line barely escaping a safety. It was only temporary delay, as the Bronco defense tackled the Wolf runner in the end zone on their first play for the safety and the Broncos led by a score of 2 to 0. After the Wolves kicked to Broncos, Morriss connected with Paul Faz for a 61 yard pass and catch to the Wolf 14 yard line. A couple of plays later, Morriss scrambled and lofted a touchdown pass to Jesse Guerrero who barely came down inside the back of the end zone. When the PAT failed, the Broncos had the lead by the score of 8 to 0. The Wolves quickly answered with a 85 yard pass and run for a touchdown and the score at the half was Broncos 8 and Wolves 6. The Broncos took the opening kickoff and used ten plays before turning the ball over on downs deep in Wolf territory. Once again the Wolves responded with a 75 yard catch and run to setup a first and goal. The Wolves scored two plays later to take the lead 14 to 8. Even though the Broncos had many exciting runs and pass completions the rest of the game, they could not score again. The Broncos suffered their first loss of the season. This week the JV Broncos travel to Rocksprings to play the JV Billies. |
