Broncos 27 - Wolves 10 After spotting the Wolves 10 points, the Broncos responded with 27 unanswered points to win the ballgame. Late in the second quarter, Morgan Martinez broke through the Wolves' line for a 61 yard to the Wolves' five yard line. On fourth and goal from the one yard line, Dustin Neff scored as the Bronco line moved the pile. The PAT kick was not successful. The score stood at 10 to 6 at the half. In the third quarter, the Broncos mounted a long scoring drive with good runs by Neff, Martinez, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Will Anderson. Anderson split the line and scored from about 20 yards out. Then he added the two point PAT to give the Broncos the lead at 14 to 10. On the next scoring drive, Derrick Van Winkle threw deep to Jenkins. The refs called a pass interference penalty against the Wolves giving the Broncos a short field. Riley Sanchez got the score. Aaron Gaytan's PAT kick was good and the Broncos were ahead by a score of 21 to 10. On the Wolves' first play of the next drive, they threw deep and Michael Jenkins intercepted. He came down the far side line with several Broncos blocking for him. Near the five yard line, he stopped and made the last Wolf miss his tackle. He finished the return by scoring the fourth touchdown of the game. Aaron Gaytan's kick hit the goal post so hard that it was vibrating for several seconds. The Broncos led by a score of 27 to 10. The Wolves did not give up. They started passing their way down the field and finally had first and goat at the one. The biggest gain in this drive came of a "pay back" pass interference call against the Broncos. The Bronco defense stepped up and stopped their rushing attempts to score. So they tried passing into the endzone, and Sanchez intercepted and returned the ball 107 yards for an apparent touchdown. However, the play was called back due to a penalty. The Broncos gained 303 yards on 51 carries and 15 yard passing. Victor Vaquera completed three passes on seven attempts. Jenkins caught one pass for seven yards. Fidel Acevedo caught two passes for eight yards. McGuffin had 73 yards on 11 carries, Martinez had 81 yards on 6 carries, and Anderson had 86 yards on 11 carries. The Bronco defense limited the Wolves to six yards rushing and 167 yard passing. This week the Broncos have an away "home" game against Marfa in Odessa Ratliff Stadium on Saturday at 6:00. |
